Hampton Community Library programs for November
Offerings at Hampton Community Library, 3101 McCully Road, include:
• “What a Wonder-Fall World” drop-in story time, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 30. Times are subject to going longer or shorter.
Featured are stories, songs and crafts designed to celebrate discovery. All ages and abilities are welcome. Come early and stay for all activities or for a few.
Scheduled are stories and songs, 10:30; investigate and create, 10:45; stories and songs, 11; parachute play, 11:30; stories and songs, 11:50; and stay and play, noon.
• Tech Help Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 4. Students from Hampton High School will assist in solving minor issues with phones, apps, emails, audio books and related equipment. The program is on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Home Business 101: a snack-and-learn program from PNC, noon to 1 p.m. or 6 to 7:00 p.m. Nov. 9. The session will provide guidance for home business plans, financing options and more.

• Checkmate chess club for children in kindergarten through 12th grade, 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 in Activity Room 1.
The emphasis is on good sportsmanship and building skill level through instruction and play. The club is led by instructor, Benjamin Lin, 2023 state sixth-grade champion. All levels of play are welcome. Registration is appreciated by calling the library at 412-684-1098.
• Project Scrapbook, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 20. Marie Golio from Creative Memories will be at the library to share, teach and support fellow scrapbookers and their goals. No need to register.
• Card Club, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays for adults. Try a game of 500 bid or something new.
• Murder by the Book: a Mystery Book Discussion, 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15.
The book of the month is “Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman. Call the library at 412-684-1098 to request a copy. Everyone is invited to participate.
• Betty’s Book Buzz Discussion Group, 1 p.m. Nov. 17, 1:00 p.m.
The book of the month is “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. Call the library at 412-684-1098 to request a copy. Everyone is invited to participate.
• Cooks-N-Books, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 in Great Room A at the Hampton Community Center. The theme is “We’re On a Roll: Casseroles.”
Cooks-N-Books is a cookbook and food discussion group for people who love to cook and make new friends. No real experience or culinary expertise is needed, just a desire to share recipes and food.
Here’s what to do: Check out a cookbook. Cook that dish and bring it to the group the evening of the discussion. Please bring a copy of the recipe, as well.
Please note there will be a $2 fee to cover the cost of supplies.
• News and Views, 1 p.m. the first Friday of each month in the library.
The discussion group is led by local author and journalist Gerry K. Smith with a new format inviting members to participate as guest leaders. Discussion topics always are welcomed, and new members are welcome to share or just listen.
The library will close at 5 p.m. Nov. 22 and remain closed through Nov. 26 for Thanksgiving. Regular hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and closed on Sunday.
