Recycle Rama scheduled for May 14

The Township of Hampton will present its Recycle Rama event from 9 a.m. to noon in the Hampton Community Park/Community Center Parking Lot.

Vendors will be on site to accept materials for recycling, as per these conditions:

• JVS Electronics has a strict limit of one television per car. A list of items that will not be collected is available at www.hampton-pa.org/DocumentCenter/View/3488/JVS-Electronics?bidId=.

• Construction Junction accepts construction materials only if they are in useable condition. Not accepted are less than 100 square feet of matching tile or flooring, CRT/Tube TV cabinets or entertainment units (not suitable for most flat-screen TVs), stone slabs, countertops or windowsills, flush hollow core interior or bi-fold doors, due to overstock of all items. • Paper shredding, sponsored by State Rep. Lori Mizgorski, has a limit of two 13-gallon bags or boxes per car. Magazines, books, metal and plastics are not accepted. Materials will be shredded on-site at the event. Document shredding will end prior to noon if the shredding truck reaches its maximum capacity.

• Thrivent Bike collects used bicycles in repairable condition. Items not accepted include tricycles, scooters and other ride-on toys.

Hampton Presbyterian Church Big Band to host event

The Hampton Presbyterian Church Big Band is hosting a dance event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 13.

Free dance lessons will be given by Matthew Lawther from 6:30 to 7:30, and the band will perform live music afterward. Tickets are $10 each, and free for children 12 and younger. Live band, food and dance instruction are included.

North Hills Chorale to pay tribute to Sondheim

The North Hills Chorale will host its spring concert, “Sounds of Sondheim: A Tribute Concert,” on May 14-15.

The first show will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, 5825 Heckert Road. The second event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road.

Hampton Presbyterian Church plans car show

All makes and models are welcome at the car show hosted by Hampton Presbyterian Church from 2 to 6 p.m. May 21.

Music will be provided by DJ Denny Dutko, and guests can enjoy fare from various food booths.

Bike Rodeo

Shaler, Etna and Millvale police departments, along with Shaler Hampton EMS, will hold a Bike Rodeo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 21 at Kiwanis Park. Children will be fitted for and receive a free bike helmet, learn about safe riding and can enter a free raffle to win a new bicycle. For more information or to register, visit shaler.org.

Register for Northgate Church’s free Mega Sports Camp

Back for its ninth year, Northgate Church Mega Sports Camp is a week of free fun for kids in first through sixth grades.

Camp dates are 6-8:30 p.m. June 20-24 at the church, 238 West View Ave., Ross.

Youngsters can choose clinics in baseball, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, gymnastics, dodgeball or art.

Upbeat music, playing games, skits, singing and learning Bible stories also are among the activities designed to help children discover their character traits for success in life.

While the camp is free, registration is required. Space is limited, and early registration is recommended either online at www.northgatechurch.com/mega or by calling the church office at 412-931-6016.
