Hampton High School celebrates Homecoming
From a pregame tailgate party to a close matchup on the gridiron, Hampton High School’s Homecoming offered plenty of activity and excitement, while Mother Nature cooperated with the weather.
Although the Talbots lost to Connellsville, 28-26, on Sept. 29, fans were treated to Brock Borgo’s 202 yards rushing with a touchdown, and Hampton remained undefeated in the WPIAL’s Class 4A Greater Allegheny Conference to start the season. Still on the schedule are conference games on Oct. 6, hosting North Catholic; Oct. 13 at Indiana; Oct. 20, hosting Mars Area; and Oct. 27 at Highlands.
On a more positive note, Homecoming festivities included the induction of new members into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame: Elaina Balouris Tabb, cross country and track, Class of 2010; Dante DiBucci, football and lacrosse, Class of 2016; Severino DiBucci, football and lacrosse, Class of 2015; Joe Raimondi, football, wrestling and lacrosse; and Mary Alice Hennessey, who participated on the Hampton school board for 12 and oversaw renovations to school district’s Fridley Field, along with the completion of the high school baseball field.
Adanna Smith and Brady Andrews were crowned Homecoming king and queen, and the Hampton High School Marching Band put on a performance of its 2023 field show, themed “No Storm Lasts Forever” and depicts a group of sea voyagers who endure dangerous conditions.
The band will perform Oct. 7 in the Allegheny Valley Marching Band Festival at North Allegheny High School, Oct. 14 in Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association competition at Deer Lakes, and Oct. 28 in the PIMBA championships at Moon Area.
