Hampton Library sets fall hours, programs

The Hampton Library’s new fall hours are Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. -7:30 p.m and closed Sundays.

Online programs

• Calling tinkerers, makers and dreamers! Jump into science, technology, engineering, art and math with a STEAM Kit Our ACLA Nature Backpacks get you outside to take on adventures. Don’t forget Miss Suzy and Fluffy. They will be back on Facebook with more stories and bedtime fun Sundays at 7 p.m.

In-person programs

Story Time will be held outdoors at the Rotary Pavilion (across from the big playground nearest to the Community Center) now through Oct. 28. Weather permitting.

T is for Toddler at the Rotary Pavilion: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11-11:30 a.m. through Oct. 27. Join in for an autumn full of songs, rhymes and stories about letters and numbers. All ages welcome.

In Your Neighborhood at the Rotary Pavilion: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-1:30 p.m. through Oct. 27. Planned are stories, songs, rhymes and games. All ages welcome.

Book Banter (A Reading Club for busy families) at the library: The theme for October is “Como se Dice” (How do you say?) Read a book about someone that comes from a different language, culture or time period than yourself. Adults and teens read a book from the monthly theme. Bring the book with you and discuss with the group. Space is limited; RSVP by phone or in person at the library to reserve your spot.

Families with grade school-aged children and older, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

There will be no Babies Books-Banter on Oct. 23 due to the Halloween parade.

Read and win

Children are encouraged to read 26 books to earn a certificate and a Gold Star for your library card or have your picture displayed on the Wall of Fame. Simply read one book for each letter of the alphabet. Program ends December 11. All ages (babies through fourth grade) are encouraged to participate.

Tweens and teens can participate in the Lucky Number 9 book club. Read five books from the challenge card to earn a chance to win. Earn additional chances for a total of nine books. The program ends Dec. 11.

Adult readers, grab your bingo marker and read. In-a-row, vertical, & diagonal earns 1 ticket, (maximum 5 tickets). The more you read, the more chances to win. Cards available at the front desk. Program ends Dec. 11.

Murder by the Book! A Mystery Book Discussion

Coming Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. is “In the Dark” by Loreth Anne White.

The Mystery Book Group will be meeting outside at the Rotary Pavilion at Hampton Community Park. Everyone who is interested in great reads is invited to join us.

Betty’s Book Buzz Discussion Group

Betty’s Book Group will be meeting in the library 1 p.m. Oct. 15. The book will be “The Perfect Wife” by J.P. Delaney. Everyone who is interested in great conversations and good reads is welcome.

News and Views: News You Can Use

This popular discussion group is back and will be meeting in the Adult Lounge of the Community Center. There’s always something new to learn with the lively conversation group led by Gerry K. Smith, local journalist and author. The group meets at 1 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 3.

Cooks-n-Books: Food On A Stick

Cooks-n-Books is a cookbook and food discussion group for people who love to cook and make new friends. The group meets 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 28. Prepare a dish and bring a copy of the recipe to share. We meet in Great Room A in the Hampton Community Center. Please note there will be a $2 fee to cover the cost of supplies.

The Hampton Community Library follows the safety plan established by the Township of Hampton which reflects county, state and federal guidelines.
