Hampton residents can request a party trailer, complete with tables, chairs and activities, to host a block party. The trailer is a free service through the township.

Hampton is renting out a party-in-a-box, a large one on wheels.

A block party trailer is available free to residents who are hosting get-togethers with neighbors.

The mobile unit comes with everything needed for a good outdoor party, said Kevin Flannery, director of community services.

The township purchased the $15,000 trailer after having approved it in the 2021 budget.

Money was included in the township’s capital improvement funds.

The new service is scheduled to begin Aug. 18, with the trailer up for rent on Fridays-Sundays.

“It is no charge to township residents for parties on streets, cul de sacs and planned residential neighborhoods,” Flannery said.

It includes a portable volleyball net and ball, two sets of cornhole boards, a basketball, football, two tables, 12 chairs, 12 cones, two garbage cans and a few other items, Flannery said.

Township crews will deliver the vehicle on the Friday before the event and pick it up the following Monday morning.

Council President Mike Peters said he hopes that residents take advantage of the unique service.

“We look at this as a way to help celebrate Hampton’s great neighborhoods and promote a sense of community,” he said.

There is no fee but a $100 security deposit is required with a debit or credit card.
