Road crews spent much of the day Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, loading up and spreading salt around Hampton Township to clear icy roads and pre-treat others in anticipation of temperatures that were expected to dip into the teens overnight.

While the region received less snow this week than was predicted, steady downpours on Monday followed by temperatures that were expected to dip into the teens overnight was a cause for concern.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, a stream of trucks from the municipality and the school district were loading up on road salt at the public works facility along McCully Road.

The National Weather Service predicted an overnight low of 10 degrees on Tuesday with snow showers.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for sunny skies but a high temperature of only 25 degrees.

A 40% chance of snow and a low of 22 degrees was predicted for Wednesday with a wintry mix and chilly temperatures forecast for the remainder of week.
