Students in the Pine-Richland School District return to classes on Aug. 20.

Holiday breaks: Thanksgiving, Nov. 27-28; winter, Dec. 22-Jan 2; spring, March 30-April 3

Enrollment: 4,600

Lunch prices: K-6, $2.60; 7-12, $2.85, unchanged

District main phone number: 724-625-7773

District website: pinerichland.org

What’s new: Major construction projects include HVAC improvements at Richland and Wexford elementary schools, gym floor resurfacing at Pine-Richland Middle School and front lobby floor resurfacing at Pine-Richland High School.

The district continues to offer its entire curriculum online for parents to reference and will offer new courses this year, including new secondary social studies classes and expanded world language offerings.

Because of a shortage of a specific memory chip used in the Chromebook model the district selected, it has not received devices that were ordered in June. Because of that, the district postponed this year’s recycling program. Existing devices will be repaired and prepared so that every first grade student has a working Chromebook for the start of the school year.

• Upcoming events: The Class of 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized at 6:45 Sept. 5 before the football game. Their banquet will take place the following evening. This evening we will have eighth graders performing with the marching band and youth cheerleaders performing on the sidelines for the first half of the game.

Homecoming is Sept. 19. There will be a community event on campus before the game. Details will be provided on the district’s website as they become available.

Pine-Richland will host the Allegheny Valley Band Festival on Sept. 24. The event will showcase some of the area’s top high school marching bands.
