Farmers market nears end of season

The Township of Hampton Farmer’s Market is held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 12 in the lower parking lot of the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road.

Vendors for 2022 include Bates & Hayes Kettlekorn, Carlos Aviles Farms, Cindy Munchies, Cunning House Supply Co., Gabriel’s Gardens, Halal Gyro Guys, Loafers Bread Co., Mazzotta Winery, Olive & Marlowe, Russelton Bee Works, Saylors Farm and Sweetwater Farms.

President’s Challenge

Join the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association for the 22nd Annual President’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk/Wheel at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at the North Park Boathouse. The event benefits the Steelwheelers, an organization dedicated to providing programs for physically challenged athletes from Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. Olé 5K in North Park

TASH’s 14th Annual Olé 5K will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Harmar Grove Pavilion in North Park.

TASH is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit that has worked in Oaxaca, Mexico, since 1998. It aims to bridge the community of Pittsburgh with people in Mexico.

At the conclusion of the race will be a Mexican buffet, Oaxaca-grown organic coffee, smoothies, 50/50 raffle, music and an awards ceremony.

College fair scheduled

More than 120 colleges and universities will participate in the North Pittsburgh College Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center at La Roche University’s campus in McCandless. Sealarks Women’s Group

Sealarks Women’s Group will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road in McCandless. The group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women alone — widowed, divorced or never married. All women alone are welcome to attend and consider joining. Depreciation Lands Museum

Mark your calendars for these events at Depreciation Lands Museum, 4743 S. Pioneer Road, Hampton:

• Lantern tours, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 22. A quiet, family-oriented, historical alternative to Halloween. Prepaid tickets are required.

• Beggar’s Day, Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Oct. 30. The last Sunday to visit the museum for the season offers old-fashioned Halloween “begging” for all costumed children.

Trunk or Treat

Shaler Township will hold a Trunk or Treat in Kiwanis Park on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. Come for treats and to hand out treats. The best decorated car wins a prize. Participants must register online at shaler.org by Oct. 10. After the Trunk or Treat, stay for Movies in the Park featuring “Hocus Pocus” at dusk.

Fall Fest

Shaler’s Fall Fest is set for 6-9 p.m. Oct. 8 at Kiwanis Park. There will be bounce houses, games, a hay maze, penny scramble, crafts and more. Attendees can make their own smores and decorate pumpkins. There will also be hotdogs, drinks and other treats.
