Lenten fish fry

Saints Martha and Mary Parish will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent, except Good Friday, at St. Catherine of Sweden Church on Wildwood Road in Hampton.

Fish dinners offer a choice of baked or fried cod or steamed shrimp and include two side dishes and dessert. Fish sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, fish and shrimp tacos, and pizza also are available. The complete menu is available at stsmarthaandmaryparish.org.

The dining room in St. Catherine’s Farmer Hall is open from 4 to 7, and everything on the menu is available for takeout. Orders can be placed online or calling 412-486-6001. Dinners can be picked up in Farmer Hall or through a curbside delivery lane. Please allow 20 minutes for your order to be prepared and specify your preferred choice for order pickup.

Senior softball registration

Registration for the Northern Allegheny County Senior Softball League is open.

The organization is a competitive, slow-pitch league for players in two divisions, ages 50-plus and 62-plus. Tryout evaluations are held in March and April. Games are played from May through August, primarily at the North Park Senior Ballfield Complex at the Lodge in North Park.

Pickleball at community center

Adult pickleball for players 18 and older continues through May 24 in the Hampton Community Center gym.

Sessions are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Fridays, and 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be no programs on March 28 and 29, and April 5.

Cost is $5 per participant per session.

Depreciation Lands history lecture

Author and historian Jonathon Klemens will present “The Story of the Depreciation Lands: Celebrating 240 Years of History” at 7 p.m. Feb. 22, George Washington’s birthday, at the Depreciation Lands Museum, 4743 S. Pioneer Road, Hampton.

Learn how the Depreciation Lands was established and how it developed. Tickets must be purchased in advance, at $10 for Depreciation Lands Museum Association members and $12 for nonmembers, and space is limited.

Omelet, sausage breakfast

The Elfinwild Lions Club is sponsoring a freewill-offering omelet and sausage breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church, 3200 Mt. Royal Blvd.

Concerts at high school

Hampton High School’s Winter Band Concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

The Chorus Winter Concert is scheduled for the same time on Feb. 29 at the high school.

Trivia night at library

Hampton Community Library Trivia Night is scheduled for March 1.

Doors open at 6:30, and trivia begins at 7. The program ends by 9:30.

Assemble your team and get ready for a night of laughter and friendly competition. The cost is $20 per person, with six to 10 people per table.

AARP meets in Hampton

AARP 595 meets the first Tuesday of each month at 12:30 p.m.

The next meeting is on March 5 at Hampton Presbyterian Church at 2942 E. Hardies Road. Entertainment will be by Walt Merriman.

Hues and Harmony

Coinciding with Music in Our Schools Month and Youth Art Month, the annual Hues and Harmony event will showcase and promote Hampton Township School District’s fine arts programming in a two-day exhibition on March 5 and 6 at the high school, 2929 McCully Road.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear a variety of musical performances by Hampton’s elementary, middle and high school students. On March 5, families can create their own percussion instruments out of everyday materials at the “Found Sounds” drum circle and play them with other community members.

In addition to musical performances, a variety of student artwork will be on display in various areas of the high school. Attendees can anticipate live demonstrations by students at pottery wheels and easels. There will be hands-on art activities available for families to engage in creative art-making together.

Families may choose to pursue a scavenger hunt through the art displays, enjoy a coloring page, draw a mini-artwork for a larger collection of masterpieces, create an origami piece or even screen print their own T-shirts. Hampton art teachers and student volunteers will be on hand to guide the activities.

Sealarks meeting

Sealarks Women’s Group will meet at 1 p.m. March 13 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, McCandless to hear Amy Steele, Northland Public Library executive director, present “A Trip to Portugal.”

The group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women who are alone. All women alone are welcome to attend and to consider joining the group. Contact Edie at 412-487-7194 for more information.

Easter egg hunt

Get the youngsters ready for Hampton’s annual Easter egg hunt, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 at Hampton Community Park.

Spring cleaning events

Township cleanup day is scheduled for April 6, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Hampton Community Center.

Recycle Rama will take place from 9 a.m. to noon May 11 in Hampton Community Park.

Outdoor events on horizon

Although it’s winter, plan ahead for the return of popular outdoor events in Hampton.

Pints in the Park events are scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. May 17, June 28, July 26, Aug. 23 and Sept. 27 in the parking lot of the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road. The events feature food trucks, entertainment and beverages for over- and under-21 guests.

The Hampton Farmer’s Market starts June 5 and runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 9, also in the community center parking lot.
