Comedian to entertain AARP

AARP 595 meets the first Tuesday of each month at 12:30 pm. at Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2942 E. Hardies Road.

The next meeting is April 2, with entertainment by comedian David Kaye. The group welcomes visitors and new members. Dues are $10 per year. For more information, call 412-486-7465.

Lifeguards wanted for Hampton pool

Hampton is hiring American Red Cross-certified lifeguards to work at the outdoor pool this summer.

Starting pay is $14 per hour. Lifeguards must be at least 15 years old and available to work Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, including weekends. Applications are accepted online or in person at the Community Center.

Recycle Rama set for May 11

Hampton’s Recycle Rama event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon May 11 in parking lot of the community center and community park.

The community center will open at noon. Some areas of the park will be blocked off for Recycle Rama use, such as the Alcoa Pavilion, access to the upper orchard and the pool parking lots. No township field use will be permitted until the event concludes.

Vendors include JVS Electronics, Construction Junction and Thrivent Bicycles. Paper shredding is sponsored by state Rep. Robert Mercuri, R-Pine.

Order seedlings

North Area Environmental Council is holding its annual seedling sale, offering a variety of non-invasive plants, trees and wildflower seed mixes to add to the beauty and natural habitat of yards and the ecological health of the region.

The council also is partnering with North Park’s Latodami Nature Center to make available lawn-to-nature kits.

Deadline for ordering is April 3. Pickup will be on April 27 at the Latodami Nature Center. Visit www.naecwpa.org for more information about the sale and to place orders.

Outdoor events on horizon

Plan ahead for the return of popular outdoor events in Hampton.

Pints in the Park events are scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. May 17, June 28, July 26, Aug. 23 and Sept. 27 in the parking lot of the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road. The events feature food trucks, entertainment and beverages for over- and under-21 guests.

The Hampton Farmer’s Market starts June 5 and runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 9, also in the community center parking lot.
