Izzi Pawloski, 10, fills an order at her family’s produce stand during Hampton’s farmers market in July 2020.

Farmers market

The Hampton Township Farmers Market is scheduled to open its season June 2.

The market operates from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday through Oct. 13. It features local produce, honey, baked goods, spices and a variety of other items.

Food trucks will be on-site several times during the season, with notices posted on the township website.

The farmers market is located in Hampton Community Park, 3101 McCully Road.

Hidden heritage scavenger hunt

How well do you know the history of the community? Join another family-friendly scavenger hunt to discover some of the area’s hidden treasures.

The event will run through June 2 and will cost $15 (check made out to “Town of McCandless” preferred, but cash also accepted) per family or group of four.

Simply stop in at McCandless Town Hall at 9955 Grubbs Road to pay for and pick up your Hidden Heritage booklet, and complete the hunt on your own time and at your own leisure. Town Hall is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

When you complete the scavenger hunt, turn in your answer sheet by June 2 at the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center on Aufman Lane off Grubbs Road between Town Hall and the Ambulance Authority building.

The Heritage Center is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. It will be closed May 29 and May 30 for the Memorial Day holiday.

Every group that turns in an answer sheet will receive a Heritage Center pin and is eligible to enter for a Heritage Center prize basket. If you correctly answer at least eight questions, you will be entered a second time. Correctly answer all 10 questions, plus the four bonus questions, for a third entry.
