Harts Run Road work expected to stretch into October

Work to improve Harts Run Road in Hampton and Indiana townships is expected to continue through late October, weather permitting.

Single-lane alternating traffic is in place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays on Harts Run Road between Route 8 and Saxonburg Boulevard as crews conduct drainage improvements, surveying and milling and paving operations. The work started March 10.

The prime contractor for the nearly $12 million group paving project is A. Liberoni Inc.

Flaggers will be on-site, and motorists are urged to use caution.

Real ID days set for spring

The Allison Park Driver and Photo License Center, located in the Duncan Manor Shopping Center at 1701 Duncan Ave., McCandless, will host a Real ID Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14 and May 5.

Applications for Real IDs will be the only services available during the event. No other driver’s license business will be conducted. Starting May 7, residents will need a Real ID-compliant license or identification card, passport or military ID to board a domestic commercial flight, enter a military base or enter certain federal facilities.

PennDOT will need to verify your identity, your Social Security number and your Pennsylvania residency, even if you already have a Pennsylvania driver’s license or photo ID card.

Easter Egg Hunt planned for April 12

The Easter Bunny is stopping by Hampton from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12 for the township’s annual egg hunt.

The event is for children 10 and younger. It will be held outdoors, rain or shine, at the Hampton Community Center’s Rotary & Hardt pavilions.

There will be face painting, refreshments and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny. The Knock About Coffee Truck also will be on-site.

Registration is required and closes at 5 p.m. April 5. Note there will be no walk-in registration on the day of the event.

To register, visit tinyurl.com/54enk6dz.

Children are encouraged to bring their own baskets. Each child will be able to pick 10 eggs of their choosing. Egg fillers include candy, toys and prize vouchers.

The community park will be closed to the general public during the event for safety purposes, but the center will remain open.

This year’s event was made possible by generous donations from Eat’n Park and Resnick Roofing.

Registration opens soon for Summer Play Camp

Registration starts soon for Hampton’s Summer Play Camp, which is open to children ages 6 to 12.

Residents will be able to sign up their children beginning April 1. Nonresidents will be able to sign up beginning May 1.

The camp will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from June 9 to Aug. 15 at the Hampton Community Center. There will be programs on July 3 and 4.

Enrolling your child for the program will guarantee your child a place in the program. After the initial enrollment process, parents will be able to register their child ahead of time for each week the child will attend the program.

Once a child’s completed enrollment paperwork is accepted at the center’s service desk, parents will be required to pay a sign-up fee: $50 for one child, $75 for two children and $100 for three.

Participants only pay for the weeks they register their child for. The week of July 3 will be prorated because of the holiday. Payment is based off the number of children per family as well as residency.

Camp participants also must have a season pool membership since play will be scheduled there each afternoon.

Fees will be provided in the Parent Manual, which will be available April 1 at the center.

For details about the program, visit hampton-pa.org and click on Summer Play Camp under Parks & Recreation.

Rhoden (1916-2001).

Artists may submit new or existing work that reflects their personal experience or perspective on Being/Seen.

Emerging, early-career and established artists 18 and older from Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties are encouraged to submit work. All mediums will be considered.

The deadline to apply is April 6, and the submission fee is a $5 to $15 suggested donation.

Hampton grads sought for survey

The Hampton Township School District is looking to hear from alumni in a new initiative to help strengthen the Talbot community.

The district is encouraging alumni to reflect on their high school experiences and how those experiences have shaped their journeys beyond graduation.

The district currently is collecting email addresses of anyone who would like to participate in a Hampton Alumni Connections Survey, which will be sent out later this year. To participate, visit https://bit.ly/3YKyJGu.

There will be a chance to win prizes.

The greatest prize, however, is your support, which will help the district gather feedback to enhance the Hampton experience and strengthen its alumni network for mentorships, internships and more.
