September marks the eighth annual Love Your Library campaign, and all donations made to Northern Tier Regional Library during the month will receive a prorated match from the Buncher Foundation.

Library events and activities include:

• Mamma Mia Disco Party, 3 p.m. Sept. 28. Join the chorus and sing along, word-for-word, to your most cherished ABBA hits as you indulge in the adored musical movie adaptation, “Mamma Mia!”

Disco outfits encouraged, with a prize for best costume. Refreshments will be served, and guests can take chances on raffle baskets.

Tickets are $20 per person, and all proceeds go toward the Love Your Library grand total.

• Memory Care Givers Support Group, 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 26. Erin McMaster, memory care adviser with Arden Courts, hosts a group for all to attend and share their experiences of taking care of those with memory loss. Registration is required.

• The Weekly Project, Tuesdays through Oct. 8. Each week will showcase a different project for children. Please call or register online to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on Tuesdays and enjoyed at home.

• The Weekly Craft, Tuesdays through Oct. 8. Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a simple take-home craft. Please call or register online to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on Tuesdays.

• Makerspace Take-Home Kit. The library will offer a take-home kit featuring directions and materials to complete a craft from its Makerspace. Please call or register online to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on Mondays and enjoyed at home.

• Baby Play Time, 11 a.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 1. Enjoy a half hour of sharing songs, finger plays, stories and rhymes.

The program is intended for babies up to 18 months and will be held in the program room on the library’s main level. Siblings are welcome, and only one registration is required for the series of play times.

• Fresh Air Story Time, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 10. Share songs, rhymes and books on the library’s side lawn.

Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or camping chair to sit on the grass. In case of bad weather, the program will be hosted in the library’s upstairs program room.

The series is for toddlers, preschoolers and their families. Registration is required, and only one registration is necessary for the series of story times.

• NTRL Chess Club, 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 16. Practice chess skills and play against other kids in the community.

The library’s program room will be set up with chess sets and tables for families to meet and play a few rounds in an informal setting. This is a self-directed program for all ages, but registration is requested.

• Fall cooking classes with chef Carol Nardello, 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 and Nov. 12.

An Oktoberfest feast is planned for October, featuring Obatzda (Bavarian soft cheese dip), Schweinebraten (braised German pork shoulder roast), Bavarian potato salad with hot marinade, and Bavarian cream with berries and mint

November is Chili Night, with white chili verde, Ree Drummond’s Best Chili, cornbread and Texas cinnamon-chocolate sheet cake.

Classes are $45 each. There will be a limit of 30 attendees. Advance registration and payment is required.

• A Great Deal game group, 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays on the library’s lower level. Current offerings are pinochle on Tuesdays and American Mahjong on Wednesdays. Registration is requested.

• Family Story Time at the Pine Community Center, 11 a.m. Fridays through Oct. 11.

Sing, move, read books and practice rhymes. The program is for children of all ages, and registration is required.

• American Mahjong at the Pine Community Center, noon Sept. 24. Learn to play the game, which involves mixing and matching tiles with three or four players.

Beginners to expert levels are welcome. Bring your own board if you have one.

• Coffee & Crime, 5:30 p.m. Sept. 26, discussion of “The Year of Fear” by Joe Urschel.

Follow the epic cross-country chase and eventual capture of notorious gangster and bootlegger Machine Gun Kelly as he bumbles the kidnapping of rich oilman Charles F. Urschel and finds himself chased by lawman J. Edgar Hoover. Join us PM for a

• Monday Makerspace at the Pine Community Center, 2:45 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7. Teens are invited to create fun projects related to art, crafts, electronics, sewing and more.

October will feature Tunisian Crochet, where you can learn a stitch that can be used to create any crochet project.

• Pining for Books, 2 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Pine Community Center. The first meeting of Northern Tier Regional Library’s newest club will feature a discussion of “The September House” by Carissa Orlando.

• Trivia Time: Monster Mayhem, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4. Compete in teams of up to players to win a horror-themed gift basket.

The program is for ages 21 older, and BYOB. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for a team of four, with payment required upon registration.

• Fall Classic Film, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21, featuring “Night of the Hunter.” The program is in partnership with the Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club, which has the mission of preserving and promoting films from the Golden Age of Hollywood, 1910-69.

The movie is free, and refreshments will be provided. Registration is requested.
