Pittsburgh police said they arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting on Wednesday morning in Marshall-Shadeland.

Jason Woodall, 29, of Homestead, faces charges of criminal homicide, robbery and firearm violations, police said. He was lodged in Allegheny County Jail and denied bail Thursday.

Investigators identified the victim as Meiko Devaughn. No age or address was listed for Devaughn. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner said Devaughn died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled the shooting a homicide.

Police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the 2400 block of Sorrell Street just before 5:30 a.m. Nov. 30, according to an Allegheny County 911 supervisor.

First responders pronounced Devaughn dead at the scene, authorities said.

Surveillance video showed an SUV with Massachusetts license plates in the area at the time of the shooting, a criminal complaint said.

Police found the vehicle at Ross Park Mall near the Macy’s department store, according to the complaint.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not named in the criminal complaint, said he heard Woodall shoot Devaughn, who had been riding with them, outside the SUV and went through his pockets before leaving the body in Marshall-Shadeland.

Woodall’s preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 9.

Woodall pleaded guilty in December 2012 to felony counts of aggravated assault, robbery, attempted homicide, receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm without a license, according to court records. The charges were filed by Pittsburgh police.

He was sentenced to nine to 18 years in prison and three years of probation.

Devaughn pleaded guilty to felony and misdemeanor drug charges in December 2017 and was sentenced to three years of probation, court records show.
