A 35-year-old man was reported in stable condition after being shot in the neck early Friday morning in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood, city police said.

The victim was found around 2 a.m Friday on the first floor of a residence in the 6300 block of Dean Street, where police were alerted by a ShotSpotter notification that indicated 17 shots had been fired, police said.

Despite his wound, the victim was alert and talking to police. Three other occupants of the home, including two children, were unhurt, police said.

Police found several shell casings at the scene, and the gunfire caused more damage to the house.

A witness described a possible suspect fleeing the area on foot carrying a backpack.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
