Emergency crews were called just before 10:30 p.m. to a convenience store in the 2100 block of E. Carson Street.

Officers found the victim inside the store, where he returned after being shot at the intersection of 22nd and E.Carson while taking out garbage, police said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to his upper right chest and was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable, according to police.
