Mary Ann Eisenreich is McCandless Council’s newest member, sworn in Jan. 23 to represent Ward 1.

The seat was left vacant after former council member Kim Zachary resigned in December 2022. Eisenreich will fill the remainder of Zachary’s term until December 2023.

Eisenreich was one of two applicants to the position.

“I think this is a wonderful town and it’s made a lot of progress in the past. I’d like it to continue to move forward and involve the community,” she said.

She served as the director of the Southwest Regional Office for Gov. Tom Corbett from 2011 to 2015, after which she became president of MAE Strategies LLC.

Prior positions include director for community education at Carlow University; an adult education director for the Bethel Park School District; and executive director for the Pennsylvania Women Work.

Additionally, she serves as a trustee on the board of Community College of Allegheny County; is a board member for Variety, the Children’s Charity; and sits on the advisory council for Chatham University’s Center for Women and Politics.

She said she is mostly retired but does some non-profit consulting.

Eisenreich received her bachelor’s degree in business education and psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and received her master’s of education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Eisenreich is originally from Etna. She lived and raised her three children in Shaler. She and her husband, Dave, of 51 years later moved to McCandless, and have been here for the past 21 years. She has six grandchildren, two of whom are in the North Allegheny School District.

McCandless Council President Mike Tarle noted her experience will be helpful to the town.

“With her strong background in state and local government, we are happy to have Mary Ann aboard to serve the Town and its residents,” Tarle said.
