A lucky lottery player from Allegheny County purchased a winning Match 6 ticket worth $3.28 million — the game’s largest jackpot won this year.
The ticket for Saturday’s drawing was sold to Allen Forney at the Sheetz on Mosside Boulevard in Monroeville and matched all six winning numbers: 7, 13, 24, 28, 39 and 45, a Pennsylvania Lottery spokeswoman said.
Forney was not able to be reached for comment Thursday.
The last time a Match 6 winner won as much money was in October, when a Delaware resident won about $3.6 million, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.
In January, a man from Northampton County and another from Lancaster County won $1.9 million and $1.4 million, respectively, on Match 6 tickets.
The Monroeville Sheetz store will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket, lottery officials said.
“It’s awesome, everyone’s excited we sold one of them,” said Kayla Hepler, a store manager at the Monroeville Sheetz. The manager has worked at the store for around eight years. This is the first time she has worked at a place where a winning lottery ticket was sold, she said.
Match 6 prizes expire one year from the drawing date.
Lottery officials said winning Match 6 tickets should be signed, and winners should call the lottery at 1-800-692-7481 or visit palottery.com to find out how to claim their prize.
More than 75,800 other Match 6 Lotto tickets also won prizes in the drawing.
