Two Gateway School Board members joined a newcomer in capturing Democratic and Republican ballot spots in the November general election, according to unofficial Allegheny County results.

Incumbents Valerie Warning (2,069 Democratic votes, 592 GOP) and John Ritter (1,500, 1,060) finished among the top five for each party in the May 16 primary, as did Cheryl E. Boise (1,455, 799).

Another current board member, Susan DeLaney, led Democrats with 2,260 votes, and Donna Burns was third with 1,858. Republicans Kelly Matrazzo (883 votes) and George Lapcevich (768) join them in having their names on the ballot in November.

Primary candidate Janette I. Beighel did not receive enough votes in either party to advance to the general election. All Gateway candidates ran in the primary as both Democrat and Republican.

In the primary’s only contested Monroeville Council race, James C. Johns Jr. (231 votes), a former councilman, defeated incumbent Steven Wolfram (176) as Democrats running for the Ward 4 seat. Johns faces Republican William E. Krut, unopposed in the primary, in the general election.

Ward 2 candidates in November will be incumbent Eric Poach (D) and Timothy J. Lionelli ( R). No Republican ran in the primary for Ward 6, in which incumbent Democrat Bob Williams was unopposed.

In Pitcairn, all Democratic candidates were unopposed as Democrats running for council: James M. Rullo, Lisa Petrosky and Deborah Marto, four-year terms, and Debra Freeman for a two-year term. Rullo (council president), Petrosky and Freeman are incumbents.
