Assault, drug charges among those recently handled by Judge Jeffrey Herbst in Monroeville

Monroeville District Court Judge Jeffrey Herbst handled these cases recently. Defendants will have court dates set in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Charges were filed by Monroeville police unless otherwise noted.

Held for court

• Markdean Cook, 37, of Wilmerding on charges of making terroristic threats and simple assault. Charges were filed Dec. 25.

• Thomas William Betker, 39, of Homestead on charges of criminal mischief and criminal attempt to trespass. Charges were filed Nov. 23.

• Gregory Cloyd Marian, 48, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., on charges of disarming a law enforcement officer, obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault. Charges were filed Dec. 18.

Two cases were recently heard by Magisterial District Judge Anthony DeLuca as a substitute for Herbst. Both cases were held for court.

• Barata Bey, 29, of Gibsonia on charges of prohibited possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of marijuana. Charges were filed Oct. 3.

• John J. Brandon, 32, of Pittsburgh on charges of fraudulent use of a device to obtain a service, theft from a motor vehicle and two counts of receiving stolen property.

Waived for court

• Allyson Welch, 52, of Pittsburgh on charges of retail theft, false identification to police and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges were filed March 10.
