Willi’s Ski & Snowboard Shop in Monroeville has been vacant since November. Chase Bank expects to demolish the building and build a branch there.

Monroeville’s banking options are expected to grow by one as Chase Bank plans to erect a new building along William Penn Highway.

The JP Morgan bank plans on demolishing Willi’s Ski & Snowboard Shop, which has sat vacant since November. Erin Gogolin, an assistant project manager for Bohler Engineering, presented the bank’s plans to Monroeville’s planning commission in March.

The commission unanimously recommended its approval. Council will need to approve of the plans before it can move forward.

Gogolin, who did not respond to a request for comment, did not say when demolition and construction could begin.

The branch, located at 4163 William Penn Highway, is expected to be 3,300 square feet and include a drive-thru ATM. Part of the company’s design includes eliminating one of the traffic entrances to improve vehicle flow in and out of the branch with a turnaround parking lot design.

The property abuts Panda Express, so Chase is working to include a shared driveway with the restaurant, Gogolin said.

Chase currently has 65 locations in Pennsylvania, 14 of which are in Pittsburgh. The bank recently constructed a drive-up ATM in Murrysville’s Blue Spruce Shoppes next to the McDonald’s restaurant.
