Deadlines approaching for Monroeville rec programs

Deadlines to sign up for certain Monroeville Recreation Department programs are fast approaching, said the department’s director Friday.
Themed 6-week swim lessons for children and adults will be sponsored by the American Red Cross.
The first course will be held from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. for six Tuesdays, starting April 2 at Gateway High School. The deadline to register is March 26. The “Aquacise” class is for people aged 16 and older, and incorporates activities for all abilities in shallow and deep water. The class costs $50 for Monroeville residents.
The second course will be held from 8 to 8:45 p.m. for six Thursdays starting April 4 at Gateway High School. The deadline to register is March 28. The adult swim instruction is for people aged 16 and above and is designed to help people improve swimming skills. The class costs $50 for Monroeville residents.
The third course will be held from 11:30 a.m. to noon for six Saturdays, starting April 6 at Gateway High School. The deadline to register is March 29. The “adaptive aquatics” course is for people aged 6 and older and is designed for children with special needs. The class costs $45 for Monroeville residents.
Another program set to begin in April is a bridge-playing class.
It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. for six Thursdays, starting April 4 at the Monroeville Public Library. The deadline to register is March 28. The course is for people aged 21 and older, and is designed to help beginners learn the game. The class costs $50 for Monroeville residents.
A prenatal yoga course will also begin in April.
The six-week course will be held from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Mondays, starting April 8, at the Monroeville Senior Center. The deadline to register is April 1. The course is for women aged 18 and older who are pregnant. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, two blankets and a pillow. The cost is $50 for Monroeville residents.
Morris also reminded residents about the Monroeville Summer Day Camp, which begins in June.
