The following events are scheduled at Monroeville Public Library, 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd.:

• Game Nights, 6 p.m. May 23, June 8 and June 27. The library invites game enthusiasts to join in for evenings of board games, card games, tabletop games and party games. Participants can arrive anytime between 6 and 8:30 to enjoy their favorites or learn new ones.

• “Audrey Hepburn: Our Fair Lady,” 7 p.m. May 24. Hepburn, a survivor of Nazi occupation during her childhood, became a prominent figure in Hollywood films, showcasing her inner beauty, grace and style. In later years, she distinguished herself as a humanitarian. Explore her life and delve into her most notable film performances in this documentary-style tribute, which can be attended in person or via Zoom.

• Local author talk: Kasia Cunningham, 7 p.m. May 25. Cunningham, a local author and Gateway student, will join us to discuss her book, “Growing Up Divided.” The book chronicles her early life, raised in two conflicting households and educated in two distinct school districts. Despite experiences with bullying and discrimination, she remained determined to pursue her goals.

Prior to writing her book, she already launched her own cosmetics brand, Kosmo Galore, which offers vegan and cruelty-free products. Her talk is an in-person event.

• Poetry reading featuring Tuhin Das, City of Asylum writer, 7 p.m. May 31. Following Das’ reading, there will be additional readings by local Monroeville poets and an open mic session.

Das is a Bangladeshi poet who lives in Pittsburgh. He began publishing contemporary literature in 2000 and has authored eight poetry books in Bengali, his native language. His life has been deeply influenced by groups that restrict freedom of expression. Carnegie Mellon University invited him to Pittsburgh as a visiting scholar, and he joined the writer sanctuary program at City of Asylum.

This event offers a hybrid format, allowing attendance in-person or via Zoom.

• The library is partnering with the Gateway High School Black Student Union to host a Juneteenth Storytime at 10:30 a.m. June 3.

Juneteenth, a celebration of Black culture, commemorates the enslaved black people of Galveston Bay, Texas, receiving news of the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865. The occasion is observed nationwide with Juneteenth events and activities.

The Storytime will feature books, songs and a simple craft that highlight Juneteenth. The event is suitable for children ages 3 to 7, and families are welcome to attend. Admission is free, and it will be held in the library Children’s Room. No registration is necessary to participate.
