National Night Out set for Aug. 1
Monroeville Police Department invites the public to celebrate National Night Out.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 1 from 6-8 pm at Monroeville Community Park, 2399 Tilbrook Road, Monroeville. Festivities will take place in pavilions 2 and 4.
Residents are encouraged to show their support for the local police department and contribute to fostering a sense of community. The event will feature activities for children, along with hot dogs, music and various entertainment options.
National Night Out serves as an annual community-building campaign aimed at promoting robust police-community partnerships.
Car cruise scheduled
American Legion Post 820 in Monroeville is organizing a car cruise to support homeless veterans. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at the post home, 4339 Old William Penn Highway.
Guests are requested to park at Party Savvy and the dentist’s office located across the street. Event staff will guide traffic.
The event will feature food from local businesses, classic music and a silent auction, with proceeds dedicated to assisting homeless veterans. Individuals interested in entering a vehicle in the cruise should contact Sue at 412-372-9713 between noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, before Aug. 7.
Food pantry distributions
The Garden City Food Pantry distributes food on the second Thursday of each month, with morning distribution from 9 to 11 and evening distribution from 6 to 7.
Upcoming distributions are Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville.
Pittsburgh Foundation Day of Giving is Aug. 1. From 8 a.m. to midnight, online donations for the Garden City Food Pantry of $25 or more will be eligible for additional incentive funds from the Pittsburgh Foundation. Visit www.pittsburghgives.org and search Garden City Food Pantry or 15146.
