‘Walk With a Doc’

A “Walk With a Doc” program is scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Monroe­ville Community Park West, 2399 Tilbrook Road.

Participants meet at Pavilion 3. The program is rain or shine, except in extreme weather.

Take a few minutes to learn about a current health topic from a doctor, and then spend the rest of the hour enjoying a healthy walk at your own pace and distance. Snacks and water will be provided.

“Walk With a Doc” is organized in collaboration with Forbes Family Medicine, Monroeville Recreation and Parks, and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. The event is free and open to everyone. To register, visit tinyurl.com/WalkMonroeville.

Free movie screening

The Monroeville Republican Committee is presenting a free nonpartisan celebration of Veterans Day at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Parkway Building, Suite 1102, 339 Old Haymaker Road, Monroeville.

The event will screen the new documentary “Police State.” Refreshments will be served. All local residents are welcome to attend.

Church honors veterans

Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church will host a Veterans Appreciation Day service with a musical presentation during the 11 a.m. service on Nov. 12, followed by a reception.

All veterans and their families are invited to attend. The church is at 1622 James St., Monroeville.

Thanksgiving meals delivered

Garden City United Methodist Church, 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville, is providing a free Thanksgiving dinner, delivery only, within Gateway School District.

If you or someone you know would like a dinner to be delivered, call the church office at 412-373-0391 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays, or visit www.facebook.com/Garden-City-UMC-746245762092842/? fref=ts. Registration is required by 5 p.m. Nov. 12.

Church hosts Thanksgiving dinner

Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish is sponsoring a free Thanksgiving dinner for those who otherwise would eat alone on the holiday.

Located at 245 Azalea Drive in Monroeville, the church will serve dinner in the Lourdes Center from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. or until the food is gone on Nov. 23.

Food pantry distributions

The Garden City Food Pantry distributes food on the second Thursday of each month, with morning distribution from 9 to 11 and evening distribution from 6 to 7.

Upcoming distributions are Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville.
