Library hosts summer book sale

Monroeville Public Library’s annual summer book sale is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 9, rain or shine.

Purchase a bag for $12 and fill it up with as many items as you can fit. Choose from a variety of books and other materials.

Kona Ice will be on site from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and Friends of the Monroeville Public Library will have raffle baskets.

The library is located at 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd. For more information, call 412-372-0500, ext. 148, and ask for Bill.

Glass demonstrations

The Glass Center of Pittsburgh is giving a glassblowing demonstration using its mobile unit, Hot Wheels, from noon to 4 p.m. July 16 at Monroeville Public Library, 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd.

The artists will answer participants’ questions and talk about the art and the science of glassmaking. Hot Wheels has traveled all over the region to different venues and festivals. The free event is designed to be family-friendly.

Church of the Brethren hosts Bible study

Monroeville Church of the Brethren is hosting a ladies’ Bible study program at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in the sanctuary of the church, 481 Center Road.

The program is titled “Living in God’s Presence — Tracing the Temple Motif Through the Bible.” For more information, contact Sandy Ritchey at slritchey54@gmail.com. She will reply with a PDF with lesson materials for study.

Dino & Dragon Stroll coming to Monroeville

The Dino & Dragon Stroll brings its North American tour to the Monroeville Convention Center on July 30-31.

The event provides an interactive, realistic and memorable indoor experience with various exhibits ranging from baby to life-like and life-size creatures. There will also be hands-on crafts for children and families.

Sensory-friendly sessions take place at 8:30 a.m. July 30. The full experience begins at 10 a.m. both days.

Penn Hills High School 50th reunion

Penn Hills High School’s Class of 1973 will celebrate its 50-year reunion on Oct. 6, 2023, at Futules Harmar House in Harmarville. Classmates should email Joanna Papa Ogden (joanneogden@comcast.net) or Connie Hall Hannan (con.hannan@gmail.com) with their current emails and contact information.
