Bellydancing presentation at library

Monroeville Public Library will host a presentation by Amethyst of Pittsburgh Belly Dance from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Feb. 18.

Amethyst will offer a brief lecture on the history and practice of belly dance, demonstrate it and lead interested participants in some of the opening moves. You can register using this link: tinyurl.com/mplblydnc and clicking the RSVP button.

Amethyst is a full-time, professional performer and instructor of belly dance. She has been belly dancing since 1997 and teaching since 2001, and is the owner of three performance troupes.

Gateway kindergarten registration open

Kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year is open for Gateway School District children. If your child is 5 or will be turning 5 before Sept. 1, visit gatewayk12.org for more information or call Cindy at 412-373-5705.

Upcoming dates:

• April 27 — Kindergarten Fun Nights will be at 6 p.m. at Cleveland Steward, Evergreen, Ramsey and University Park elementary schools. Students must be enrolled to attend.

• May 18-19 and 22-23 — pre-arranged kindergarten screenings at neighborhood elementary schools from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., by appointment only.

Event to focus on cybersecurity

Cybersecurity: An Interactive Event is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in Johnna’s Room at Monroeville Public Library

Students from Forbes Road Career and Technology Center’s computer networking and security program will guide participants in small-group exercises on the importance and usage of password managers and virtual private networks.

Woman’s club to host fashion show

The Murrysville Woman’s Club will host its annual spring fashion show at 10 a.m. March 25 at the Lamplighter Restaurant in Salem.

A breakfast brunch will be followed by the show, featuring Fashions by Marge Predmore. Club members will be hosting a basket raffle. All proceeds will go toward the club’s community projects.

AARP group to meet

Plum AARP 3067 will hold its monthly meeting at noon Feb. 14 at Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Trestle Road. It is open to newcomers from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville, Oakmont and surrounding areas.

Monthly meetings are open and held at Unity Church on the second Tuesday of the month, September through June. For more information, call Mary Lou at 724 327-8265.
