Monroeville Council approves improvements in parks

Improvements are coming to parks in Monroeville.

On May 9, Monroeville Council voted to approve construction of a pedestrian bridge, pavilion and restroom facility at Valley Park.

Also approved was construction of climbing walls and a BMX bike track in Boyce Park.

Further pertaining to parks, information was provided about the Back to Roots plant swap to be held May 20 in Monroeville Community Park West.

The event, hosted by Monroeville Area Native Plant Group and Western Pennsylvania Chapter of Wild Ones, will feature free native seeds, children’s activities, native plants for sale, educational presentations, nature hikes, vendors, a food truck and Ask Dr. Phipps, a free service provided by Phipps Master Gardeners.

This event lasts from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The native plant and seed swap will take place from 11 a.m. to noon.
