Monroeville Public Library featured a custom-designed miniature golf course for its annual fundraiser, and this year’s course encompassed both levels of the library — even incorporating the stairs for hole eight.
“This year we’ve added even more decorations, including eight large inflatable animals and holes with special themes such as the beach, Candy Land and a birthday party,” spokesperson Rathjen said.
“Our special 19th hole brought smiles to everyone’s face when they got their golf ball in the hole and then picked out a stuffed toy from a pile of a few hundred choices.”
The fundraiser was held Feb. 22 and consisted of two separate time slots. During the morning and early afternoon, everyone was welcomed to attend the family friendly event. Drink and snacks were available for purchase, and there was a basket raffle.
Starting at 6 p.m., the library held an “over 21” event, which included unlimited play and complimentary food and beverages, as well as raffles and 50/50 drawings.
“We enjoyed having all ages joining us as part of our family fun time and for a separate 21 and older event in the evening, but golfing wasn’t the only attraction,” Rathjen said. “The food, drinks and snacks gave a chance for golfers to relax, compare scores and talk about how much they can’t wait to come back again next year.”
Sponsors, which included State Farm, Magill’s Towing Recovery and many others, were able to design their putting greens with balloons, signs, displays and other decorations. Premier sponsors included state Rep. Brandon Markosek, Irwin Interior Systems Inc., S&T Bank and food sponsor Disaster Restoration Services.
