Monroeville nonprofit hosts open house

A nonprofit that offers services to adults with intellectual disabilities will hold an open house across its three locations in the area in May.

Not Forgotten Home and Community Services will open its doors to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 2 at its locations in Bridgeville, Carnegie and Monroeville.

The centers offer art classes, cooking groups, yoga classes, drumming circles, games, computers, dances, fitness programs and other activities for adults with any intellectual or physical disability.

The open houses, held at each facility, will offer the community a free chance to learn about the programs offered.

The locations are:

• Club Forget-Me-Not! EAST: 500 Garden City Drive, Monroeville.

• Studio Forget-Me-Not!: 101 W. Main Street, Carnegie.

• Club NF: 454 Montgomery Avenue, Bridgeville.

The nonprofit launched in 2017 in Carnegie, said Laura Stuart, the organization’s creative services director.

“We are so excited to now offer three centers in our region, and still growing,” she said in a news release. “It’s inspiring to open our doors and meet new faces. We welcome young adults who may be transitioning into adulthood and adults of all ages who want to have more activity and community options.”

Classes and programs range in cost from $5 to $10, Stuart said.

“We are pleased to continue expanding a non-traditional alternative to routine adult day programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The daily activities we offer are based on personal choice and are community oriented – designed to provide individuals with all-inclusive options,” said Sonja Garnett-Williams, executive director.
