A former Avis Car Rental regional manager faces charges after police say she fraudulently rented the company’s cars in exchange for heroin and cash.

Jackie Neubauer, 40, of Monroeville began fraudulently renting cars at the Monroeville location in October, police say.

Neubauer, the manager of four regional Avis locations, was the lone employee at the Monroeville location, where at least 15 cars are confirmed to be stolen. The company believes as many as 45 cars could be stolen.

Avis also alleges Neubauer damaged the Monroeville location’s driver’s license scanner, removed its internet cable and removed wires from the interior component plastic housing.

Several weeks ago, Avis realized the amount of cars rented at the Monroeville location skyrocketed in October and November from an average of five cars per day to an average of 20.

The company also noticed revenue loss and missing vehicles at the location, according to police. A company investigation found that the same fraudulent names and credit cards were used on multiple rental contracts.

On Tuesday, Neubauer told Monroeville police she accepted heroin from people who rented cars using fake driver’s licenses, names, addresses and credit card numbers.

She faces forgery and theft charges. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled Jan. 9.

Avis fired Neubauer on Dec. 9.
