Democrats John Washington and Allison Ramsey will join Monroeville council, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s election.

Ramsey ran unopposed. Washington bested Republican challenger Gary DeLorenzo, taking just under 55% of 1,533 votes cast.

Washington is a self-employed contractor who has lived in Monroeville for the past three decades.

“I’m humbled and grateful that my friends and neighbors elected me to represent them,” Washington said. “I’m looking forward to continuing my service to our community.”

Incumbents Joseph Hyzy (Ward 1) and Mike Adams (Ward 5) ran unopposed for their council seats, along with fellow Councilman Dennis Biondo, who ran unopposed for mayor. Ramsey will fill Biondo’s Ward 7 seat.
