Work has again begun on Forbes Road in Monroeville after a four-month delay.

Steve Cowan, a Penn DOT spokesman, said the $1.34 million landslide repair project on the Monroeville road resumed March 1.

A portion of Forbes Road has been closed since July so that Braddock-based Mele & Mele & Sons Inc. could complete landslide repair work, paving, shoulder reconstruction and line painting.

Work on the road was originally expected to wrap up by November, but the delay means work is now expected to be complete in early April.

Cowan said aerial utilities were required to move to another side of the road to continue working. He said the crew “performed all the work until the (utility) lines conflicted” in October, causing crane work to be delayed until the lines were cleared.

The road is closed between Haymaker Road and Steward Station Drive, which is also referred to as Westmoreland Road.

Traffic continues to be detoured by taking Route 130 through Trafford, Cowan said.
