The city steps near the outbound Armstrong Tunnel that lead from Second Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies will be closed for about two months starting Monday, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.

Pedestrians can detour around the closed stairway by using Second Avenue, Ross Street and Forbes Avenue.

On Monday, the right lane of Forbes in front of the tunnel also will be closed for about two months. Forbes will remain open while work is being done but traffic delays are expected.

Both closures are needed as part of the $13.1 million rehabilitation of the Armstrong Tunnels.
