Firefighters respond to Jefferson Hills blaze
Firefighters were called to a home fire early Friday morning in Jefferson Hills.
The blaze was reported juts before 1 a.m. along Village Green Drive, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
Officials could not immediately provide details on what caused the fire.
Pittsburgh homeowners can apply for help improving houses
Pittsburgh homeowners can apply for financial help to rehabilitate and improve their houses.
The city’s Urban Redevelopment Authority and ACTION-Housing opened an online application portal where people can submit their information to be considered for the Homeowner Assistance Program.
The initiative provides up to $35,000 to help homeowners bring homes into compliance with city codes, complete certain general property improvements or undertake energy efficiency improvements.
Applications are open until March 14.
To be eligible for the grant funding, people must be improving an owner-occupied home and make no more than 80% of the area median income, which ranges from $56,640 for an individual to $106,880 for a family of eight.
