Man killed in Homestead shooting
A man is dead and another is in critical condition in the hospital following a shooting Wednesday morning in Homestead.
The shooting happened about 1:10 a.m. in the 300 block of East 12th Avenue.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Eric Stephens, 38, of McKees Rocks.
Shots were fired outside a home near the intersection of Ann Street, according to Allegheny County Police.
TribLIVE news partner WTAE is reporting detectives said one man was found shot to death outside the home and the other was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
No arrests had been announced.
Boy injured in Halloween hit-and-run
Butler City police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a 4-year-old boy along Center Avenue Tuesday night.
Tiffany and John Hawk told TribLIVE content partner WTAE that their son, Andrew, is recovering after he was swiped by a vehicle during trick-or-treating. They said they’re thankful Andrew is alive.
Tiffany Hawk said she was trying to stop her son from crossing the street, moments before he was struck. She said the car’s back right side hit her son. He was knocked into the road, but she said the car didn’t stop.
“I saw headlights, so I went after him. I went to grab him, and as I was going to grab him is whenever it hit, and then afterward, you know, I thought the car was stopping because they did slow down just a very minuscule amount,” Hawk said.
However, she said the car didn’t stop.
Tiffany Hawk said immediately after the hit, her son was taken to the hospital to be checked out and is now at home being monitored for signs of a concussion.
