Man shot in Homewood North

Police said a man was shot late Saturday night in Pittsburgh’s Homewood North neighborhood after several blocks were hit with a barrage of gunfire.

Officers were dispatched just before midnight to the general areas of Brushton Avenue and Mohler Street, where they found a man lying on the sidewalk on the 1300 block of Mohler with a gunshot wound to his right ankle, according to police.

He was transported to the hospital in stable condition, police said.

The city’s ShotSpotter system detected 31 shots.

No other injuries were reported, but several homes and vehicles between Ferris Court and Stranahan Street sustained damage.

The investigation is ongoing.


4 taken to hospital after Ross crash

At least four people were taken to a hospital after a vehicle flipped over Saturday night in Ross.

Chief Cristyn Zett told TribLive news partner WTAE the vehicle was traveling north on McKnight Road when it attempted a U-turn at McIntyre Road and flipped on its side.

A man, woman and their two grandchildren were inside of the car. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the children for evaluation, WTAE reported.

Another person reportedly received treatment on scene for knee pain and was later taken to a hospital.

Three cars were involved in the crash.


1 injured in crash near Kennywood Park

One person was taken to a hospital after a crash Sunday morning near Kennywood Park in West Mifflin.

Allegheny County 911 received reports of a crash within the 4100 block of Kennywood Boulevard shortly before 4 a.m., a dispatcher told TribLive news partner WTAE.

The cause of the crash and severity of the victim’s injuries have not been disclosed.


Public’s help needed in hit-and-run case

Pennsylvania State Police out of Butler are seeking information in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning in Jefferson Township that left at least one person injured.

A dark-colored Dodge Ram pickup sustained heavy front-end damage in a crash around 6 a.m. near the intersection of Fisher Road and Route 356.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or its driver is asked to contact the Butler barracks at 724-284-8100.
