Body pulled from Allegheny River in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh police said a man’s body was pulled from the Allegheny River on Monday morning.

A boater had spotted the man’s body floating in the river near the southern part of Washington’s Landing, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

A Pittsburgh police spokesperson said the man is believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s.

Pittsburgh EMS respond to 74 calls at Swift’s concerts

The hugely popular Taylor Swift concerts last Friday and Saturday kept Pittsburgh EMS and mutual aid partners busy, responding to 74 calls for aid, with 16 being transported to hospitals, Pittsburgh police said.

“EMS personnel are thankful there were no critical patients,” said spokeswoman Cara Cruz.

On Friday, there were 27 calls for service and seven transports to the hospital for emergencies that included a seizure, allergic reactions, weakness and dehydration.

There were 47 calls for EMS services on Saturday and nine patients were transported to a hospital, Cruz said.

The calls ranged from minor trip-and fall incidents to alcohol-related problems.

Plum police charge woman with DUI with child in car

Plum Borough police have accused an East McKeesport woman of driving under the influence Sunday with her 4-year-old child in the vehicle, according to Trib news partner WPXI.

Police say Christine Lynn Kregiel, 33, was driving under the influence when they stopped her vehicle on Maple Street. An eyewitness called Allegheny County 911 after seeing the woman stumble out of the car and return to the vehicle on Maple Street.

Kregiel was charged with DUI, recklessly endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing the administration of law and four traffic violations, including failure to stop at stop signs, according to records from the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System website.

Kregiel is scheduled for arraignment on the charges Monday before Plum District Justice Randy C. Martini.

Teen accused of stealing grandmother’s vehicle

Police say a teenager stole his grandmother’s vehicle from Braddock and crashed it a few miles away early Monday morning in Regent Square, Trib news partner WPXI said.

The car was stolen around 2 a.m. Monday, and the driver hit two parked cars on Guthrie Street, according to police.

Two other juveniles were inside the vehicle when it was stopped and ran away after the crash, state police said.

Police from Pittsburgh, Swissvale and Edgewood and state police responded to the incident.

Two killed in plane crash near Ebensburg

Two persons were killed in a plane crash Sunday afternoon in a wooded area near Ebensburg, the Cambria County coroner said.

The plane crash occurred in a wooded area in Cambria Township, north of Route 22.

Coroner Jeffrey Lees pronounced the victims dead at the scene at about 4 p.m.

The coroner’s office had not released the identities of the victims as of Monday morning and Lees was at the scene of the crash.

Neither the Federal Aviation Administration nor Cambria Township police could be reached for comment.
