Police investigate after woman shows up to hospital with gunshot wound

Pittsburgh police are investigating a shooting after a woman showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police said a 34-year-old woman was in stable condition with a wound to her foot when she arrived at a hospital just after midnight Friday.

She told officers she had been injured in the 500 block of Elmer L. Williams Square in the city’s Larimer neighborhood.

Police canvassed the area and found the scene behind a residence.

The investigation is ongoing.


Police probe shots fired incident in Oakland

Pittsburgh police are investing after shots were fired in the city’s Oakland neighborhood Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to Melba Place in the city’s Oakland neighborhood for a two-round ShotSpotter alert just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

A preliminary investigation showed a woman inside a vehicle fired two rounds at a man on the street before fleeing, public safety officials said. Officers couldn’t find the man at the scene. They took witness statements and have been reviewing surveillance videos.

Officers found the vehicle involved in the shooting and are processing it for evidence, officials said.

No injuries or property damage were reported.


Pittsburgh hosting free yard waste drop-off after storms

In response to last week’s severe storms, Pittsburgh is hosting another free yard waste drop-off for residents Saturday.

People can leave small yard waste — not including branches over four inches in diameter — between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Department of Public Works divisions in East End, Hazelwood, West End and Highland Park.
