Vehicle takes out utility pole in Shaler

A vehicle crashed into a utility pole along Mt. Royal Boulevard early Wednesday morning, Shaler Township Police said.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred at 2:30 a.m. near 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., according to police Chief Sean Frank.

Traffic will be restricted on the roadway from Vilsack Road to Morewood Road while the pole is replaced, Frank said.


Allegheny County narcotics unit releases 2024 data

Allegheny County Police’s Narcotics Unit released its 2024 statistics in a social media post Tuesday night.

The report said detectives made 118 narcotics-related arrests last year that resulted in 27 federal indictments. The unit seized 102 firearms, 16 pounds of marijuana, 20 kilograms of cocaine, more than 10,000 doses of heroin and fentanyl and more than $225,000 in cash.
