Apple Hill seeks students for theater apprenticeship program

Apple Hill Playhouse officials are looking for high school students interested in theater for their apprenticeship program, which begins in June and runs through August.
“What we want to do is give them as much experience working in the theater as we can,” said Vince D’Angelo, who manages the apprenticeship program after retiring from teaching at Aquinas Academy in Greensburg and working at Walt Disney World for the past eight years.
Apprentices will generally work at the theater Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as some Saturdays.
“They’ll be working mostly with the children’s theater,” D’Angelo said. “But we want them to learn stage management, props and lights, basically everything that goes into putting a show together.”
The season’s first children’s show, “Hyronomous A. Frog: The Frog Prince,” opens June 18.

“It gives kids, especially high-school kids, a chance to find out if they really want a commitment to working in theater,” D’Angelo said.
