Delmont officials are paving the way to pay nearly $300,000 for the borough’s 2019 road program.
This summer’s program will include paving work on West Pittsburgh Street, Stotler Drive and Cupp Way.
Work on Stotler will also include some stormwater drainage work beneath the street.
The vast majority of the program’s cost is for West Pittsburgh Street, about $200,000. About a third of West Pittsburgh Street was paved last summer.
Council heard from several residents in May about additional roads that need work, and acknowledged that the annual program is limited by available funding.
“We can’t get any more behind than we are,” Mayor Alyce Urban said.
Councilman Stan Cheyne agreed.
“The roads aren’t getting any better,” he said.
Council voted 5-0 both to hire Monessen-based El Grande Industries to do paving work, and to authorize staff to begin the process of borrowing roughly $292,000.
