There will be no lack of fresh veggies available this summer, with four farmer’s markets in Murrysville and Delmont open regularly starting in late May.
• The Murrysville Farmers Market will be open Thursdays from June through September, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, 3235 Sardis Road.
Murrysville officials are also piloting a new “Artisan Market Days” program once per month June 27, July 25, Aug. 29 and Sept. 26. Artists who create one-of-a-kind hand-/machine-crafted goods that are locally designed and produced will receive a featured artisan space on the last Thursday of the month.
Applicants must submit a form with a sample photo of each type of artwork, and must declare all items are of their own creation. Applications are available at MurrysvillePARecreation.com under the “Programs & Events” tab.
• In addition, Daugherty’s Orchard farm stand, at 5593 Saltsburg Road, is open during regular business hours throughout the summer, offering produce as well as home-baked pies. For more, see DaughertysOrchards.com.
Down the road in Delmont, borough residents will also have two markets from which to choose.
• The borough’s farmers market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays from June to September at the Rose Wigfield Parklet, 27 Greensburg St. in Delmont.
Interested vendors can apply by emailing A.M.Steele@comcast.net. The fee is $25, and vendors must have a certificate of insurance and any applicable licenses and permits for products being sold.
• Tractor Supply at 725 Manor Road will also host a market, 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays from May 22 to Oct. 30.
