Murrysville physician pleads guilty to drug diversion, fraud charges

A Murrysville doctor pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday on charges of drug diversion and health care fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Dr. Yee Chung Ho, 72, pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawfully dispensing and distributing controlled substances and one count of health care fraud before U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
In May and June 2019, Ho dispensed Oxycodone outside the course of his professional practice in Pittsburgh, “and not for a legitimate medical purpose,” according to prosecutors.
Between April 2018 and June 2019, Ho committed fraud by submitting claims to Medicare for payments to cover the cost of the unlawfully prescribed narcotics.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and state Attorney General’s Office worked together on the investigation.
Ho is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 4.
