Three Westmoreland County women looking to further their education will have a helping hand from the Murrysville Woman’s Club, whose members awarded them scholarships at a June 6 luncheon.
Taylor Franco of Murrysville, Michele Marvich of Greensburg and Danielle Steadman of Mt. Pleasant were the recipients of $6,600 in scholarships for the 2019-20 school year. The scholarships were presented during the club’s luncheon at the Westmoreland Country Club.
Franco is a 2019 graduate of Clarion University with a degree in speech-language pathology and audiology, and a minor in social work. Franco has been accepted into the university’s master’s degree program. She works at the Carlson Library’s circulation desk at the school.
Marvich is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and works at Westmoreland County Community College. She has been accepted into the master’s degree program at Chatham University, with the goal of becoming a technical writer specializing in business and organizational writing.
Steadman will begin her final semester this fall at Seton Hill University, where she is pursuing a degree as an adult training facility program specialist. She works at Clelian Heights caring for disabled adults, and has volunteered at the Westmoreland County Probation Office since 2012.
Since 1983, the Murrysville Woman’s Club has awarded more than $124,000 in scholarships to 90 women.
