New look, new faces greet Aquinas Academy students in Hampton

Students are returning to a campus with a new look for the school year, as Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh is in the process of completing a $5.2 million building that will house the lower- and middle-school students.

For the fall semester, the lower school students will occupy the completed second floor.

In addition to a new building, the school in Hampton has hired eight new teachers for 2022-23: Hannah Allen, high school history; Jenny Chufo, third grade; Hannah Hirst, first grade; Brenda Kostial, fourth grade; Regina Liguori, preschool assistant; Laurie Lynch, high school Spanish; Allison McGrath, high school English; Sara Whetzel, high school English.

The high school athletic department is adding girls tennis and girls volleyball, with both teams playing an independent schedule for their first year.

Four new head coaches are joining Aquinas this year: Tom Dongilli, girls varsity soccer; Nick Wolk, boys and girls varsity cross country; Bill Dollard, girls tennis; and Brad Tebbs, girls volleyball.

Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh is entering its 27th school year with an enrollment of 510 in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
