New members of Shaler Area School Board sworn in
The Shaler Area School Board held its annual reorganization meeting on Dec. 8, swearing in two newly-elected and two existing board members, all chosen by the public to serve a four-year term in the recent November election.
New members Elizabeth Dunn and Edward J. Kress were sworn in at the beginning of the meeting, and returning members Tim Gapsky and Dr. April Kwiatkowski took their oaths next.
“I am humbled and grateful to have the opportunity to serve the students and families of Shaler Area in this capacity,” Dunn said via email.
Dunn said she is looking forward to being an “involved board member,” focused on “building community partnerships in all four community municipalities.”
Kwiatkowski joined the meeting via phone and was unanimously chosen as president of the board through December 2022. James Tunstall was voted in as vice president, serving the same term.
Superintendent Sean Aiken said the administration is “looking forward to working with all nine board members to continue to build upon successes in the district.”
