News briefs: Free flu shots, trail & treat event, restaurant guide, class reunion, pumpkin carving
UPMC St. Margaret and St. Margaret Foundation are hosting a free flu vaccination event for senior citizens and people 18 and older with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease.
This is a drive-thru event from 8 to 10 a.m. Oct. 10.
Participants should stay in their cars, and masks must be worn.
The clinic will be at UPMC St. Margaret, 815 Freeport Road, near Aspinwall, in the parking lot behind the 100 and 200 Medical Arts buildings.
Hosanna Industries Trail & Treat
Hosanna Industries is inviting Hampton resident to bring their ghouls, goblins and friendly furballs to a safe and socially distant fun time on the nonprofit organization’s campus in Gibsonia.
Guests will walk the trails, collect treats from characters and have a chance to take photos.
The event is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 25.
The campus is at 3939 Dickey Road.

Hampton leaders encourage supporting local eateries
Hampton officials are urging residents to help local restaurants impacted by restrictions that limit in-person dining to slow the spread of coronavirus.
The township has posted a list of local restaurants on its website, which can be viewed online at http://bit.ly/HamptonGuide.
Restaurants offering takeout service or delivery options can be added to the list by contacting Melanie Martino through the township website or at http://bit.ly/AddMyRestaurant.
Hampton Class of 1980 reunion
The Hampton High School Class of 1980 will celebrate its 40-year reunion Oct. 24 at the North Hampton Fire Hall.
A block of rooms has been reserved for visiting guests at the Quality Inn in Gibsonia.

Hampton’s pumpkin carving contest
Hampton is playing host to its second annual pumpkin carving contest.
Registration is free. Multiple family members can participate, but only one prize per family will be awarded.
Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes can be carved as long as they are not artificial. They must be completed before being dropped off at the community center for judging.
Residents can begin dropping off carved pumpkins starting Oct. 21. The deadline for dropoff is 2 p.m. Oct. 23.
All pumpkins must have the ticket number from the registration receipt to be eligible for prizes. More information and contest rules are available online.
