Hampton Township has the picked the winners of this year’s Pumpkin Carving Contest. 

The first-place winner was a carving of the Pittsburgh skyline. Second-place went to a pumpkin depicting a castle. The third-place winner was a pumpkin featuring Morticia Addams. And an honorable mention was awarded to the “Covid Couple” pumpkins.

Contest winners will receive gift certificates. The pumpkins are on display outside the community center.

Honor Society plans Thanksgiving food drive

The National Honor Society at North Hills High School and the Class of 2021 are teaming up to host the annual Thanksgiving food drive to help families in the district who are in need.

Food will be collected from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 at North Hills Christian Church, 778 Thompson Run Road.

Items needed for the food drive include stuffing, canned vegetables, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, “take and bake” bread, canned fruit, juice and baked goods mixes.

Cash or checks also can be donated by dropping them off or mailing them to: North Hills Christian Church, c/o Family Food Bags, 778 Thompson Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Virtual divorce workshop for women

A three-hour workshop is being offered online Nov. 14 to provide women with education and information on the legal, financial and emotional issues associated with divorce.

The workshop will be held via video conference from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The cost is $15 per person, and preregistration is required by Nov.12 by calling Donna Cheswick at 724-493-9695. Once registered, online instructions will be emailed.

Hampton seeking residents to serve on advisory boards

Hampton is accepting letters of application from residents interested in serving on the Environmental Advisory Council, Zoning Hearing Board and the Shaler Hampton EMS Board.

The environmental council is responsible for reviewing land development applications to ensure compliance with environmental protection regulations.

In addition, issues related to the protection, conservation, management, promotion and use of natural resources, including air, land and water are also within their review.

The zoning board reviews and decides on variance applications. A variance may be submitted as an appeal to a permit denial, notice of violation or determination by the zoning officer.

The emergency medical services board will have an appointment available beginning in 2021. The board serves as the appointed board of directors overseeing the service’s administrative and fiscal operations.

Residents interested in serving in one of the positions should send a letter to: Township of Hampton, Attn: Township Council, 3101 McCully Road, Allison Park, PA 15101.
