Police are investigating after a child found a loaded handgun on a playground at a McKeesport day care center.

No one was injured in the incident that happened sometime last week, according to Jasmine Smith, a teacher at the McKeesport Child Development Center.

She said McKeesport police were notified. The center has taken additional safety precautions since the incident, but Smith did not offer specifics.

Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV said a note about the incident posted on a door at the center said a child “found a loaded handgun on the side of the playground” and then brought the gun to a supervising teacher. The note said police are investigating the matter.
